ABOUT PAVONE LINGERIE

The face behind Pavone Lingerie is Janneke Schellekens. Janneke has lived in different places across Europe and South America, and it was especially in Italy that her passion for fashion and craftsmanship was awakened. There, her love for elegance, refinement, and the idea that clothing is not only something you wear, but also something that can make you feel a certain way, truly began to grow.

A few years ago, Janneke started studying at the Fashion Academy in Amsterdam and soon after founded her own company. She has since graduated as a Fashion Designer and is working hard to establish her sustainable brand Pavone. She is incredibly proud that everything she is passionate about is reflected in Pavone Lingerie.

Pavone is the Italian word for peacock. The peacock represents pride, beauty, elegance, and strength. For Janneke, this symbol means far more than just aesthetics: it is a reminder that you are allowed to show yourself exactly as you are, even if you have had to find yourself again along the way.

Janneke’s designs are also shaped by her personal story. In her life, she has experienced sexual trauma, something that has had a profound impact on her self-image, her body and her femininity. It was from this experience that the desire grew to create lingerie that is not only beautiful but also feels safe. Underwear that radiates softness, provides comfort and supports women in reconnecting with their bodies with love, respect and pride.

As a designer, Janneke is highly critical and always strives for perfection. Today, she works together with a team of dedicated professionals who challenge each other every day to reach the highest possible standards, without compromising on quality, fit or sustainability.

In 2019, Janneke launched her first collection for women. Since then, the collection has expanded and is now worn worldwide. Through her own search for well-fitting underwear, also related to physical complaints, Janneke decided to develop lingerie specifically for women with chronic vulvar skin conditions. She now works closely with foundations, clinics, and specialists in the fields of pelvic health, gynaecology, urology and dermatology.

Janneke continues to work on expanding and improving her products and collections. In her ideal world, taboos surrounding topics such as urinary incontinence, Lichen Sclerosus, vulvar Lichen Planus, vulvodynia, and vulvar cancer will be broken. Pavone Lingerie stands for both softness and strength: for femininity in all its forms and for the right to feel comfortable, beautiful and free in your own body.
