Pavone Underwear for Lichen Sclerosus

Pavone bamboo women's underwear is specially designed for women with Lichen Sclerosus. The underwear features a breathable and anti-leak crotch made of 95% pure bamboo. This fabric feels like silk, absorbs moisture, is hypoallergenic, and stays dry to the touch. Pavone briefs offer optimal comfort and can help reduce flare-ups of LS.

Women under specialist care are usually advised to use corticosteroid ointments and oily salves. These ointments can stain clothing, which often leads women to use panty liners. Traditional panty liners are made from polyester, which can create a warm, moist environment that may worsen LS symptoms. Pavone underwear provides three layers of bamboo protection. Bamboo fleece sits directly against the skin, absorbs quickly, and is hypoallergenic. The underwear is made of 95% pure bamboo and is continuously tested by women with Lichen Sclerosus.

If the underwear becomes saturated from ointment use, we recommend soaking it overnight in soda crystals and washing every three weeks at 60 degrees Celsius with a spin of 800 rpm. During the wash, a cup of natural vinegar can be added to the fabric softener compartment. The vinegar replaces the fabric softener and helps preserve colors, remove stains, reduce odors, and prevent skin irritation.

For women with sensitive skin or Lichen Sclerosus in the groin area, we have designed the Waist Comfort Sensitive model. This model has extra soft edges and a slightly longer crotch in the front and back. For women who cycle, the Bikeshort is ideal. Its bamboo crotch extends across the thighs and lengthwise, eliminating seams in the groin and relieving discomfort while cycling. Additional underwear under the Bikeshort is not necessary, as the three-layer protection is already integrated.

All Pavone Lingerie designs are developed in-house and extensively tested by women with Lichen Sclerosus. The most appreciated models are Maxi Giorgia, Midi Aurora, Taille Comfort, Bikeshort Sienna, and Basic Giulia.

Pavone Lingerie works closely with the Lichen Sclerosus Support Network. Both the network and the private Facebook group for women with LS recommend Pavone Lingerie underwear. In partnership with the Lichen Sclerosus Support Network, a 25% discount code is available: LSSN

Lichen Sclerosus is a chronic, inflammation-related, non-infectious skin condition that usually affects the female genital area but can appear anywhere on the skin. Women are ten times more likely to be affected than men and account for about one-third of patients in vulvar clinics.

The most common symptom is itching in the genital area, which can lead to misdiagnosis or inappropriate treatment for candida infections. Sexual problems such as dyspareunia may occur, causing pain before, during, or shortly after intercourse, and sometimes preventing penetration.

Characteristic white patches on the skin may be observed during medical examinations, and women may experience changes in vulvar structure. The clitoris can be partially covered, the inner labia may fade or adhere, and the vaginal entrance can narrow, causing pain during intercourse and sometimes tearing.

The cause of Lichen Sclerosus is still unknown, but there are indications that it may be an autoimmune condition in which the body’s immune system does not function properly in the affected area, causing inflammation.

Treatment focuses on reducing symptoms, preventing changes in anatomy, and lowering the risk of vulvar cancer. Chronic application of a strong corticosteroid ointment, supplemented with moisturizing ointments, is required. Procedures such as dilationplasty or introitusplasty can help resolve penetration problems, often combined with pelvic floor therapy to address pain and overactive pelvic muscles.

Studies have shown that women who follow the treatment schedule experience fewer LS flare-ups, fewer anatomical changes, and a lower risk of vulvar cancer.
