What is the postpartum period?
The postpartum period is the time after childbirth during which the body recovers. This phase lasts on average six weeks, but it can take longer. During this period, women may experience bleeding (lochia), sensitive or swollen labia, stitches, wound pain, a pulling sensation around scars, hormonal fluctuations, and increased skin sensitivity.
The skin and mucous membranes in the intimate area may feel drier and thinner, making irritation more likely. Temporary urinary leakage or a heavy feeling in the pelvic area can also occur. Comfortable, breathable, and skin-friendly underwear can make a significant difference during this phase.
